A very gourd day at Rodoni Farms!

October 16, 2017

This morning, Darrin and Micael took us to the Rodoni Farms pumpkin patch near Davenport! I have never seen so many different pumpkins- some looked like the little mushrooms in Super Mario- Gumbas? Gumptas? and others were like little boobs. I loved it.  The variety meant that this pumpkin patch wasn't just rows of endless Jack-O-Lantern potentials! In fact, they had different types of kabocha, squash, and even a farmers stand with lemons, artichokes, and leeks. We bought as many leeks as pumpkins today! And I'm not sorry about that!

Anyway, it was a very sweet farm and I was surprised that the prices were so reasonable. I can't wait to come back here one day and force my own crying baby to stick his or her little head through those little wooden picture holes- it seems like a really great American tradition.

Don't mind Jon's get-up. There was no shade cover, and that's just what he looks like sometimes. It takes posting it to a blog for me to realize just how fantastic he is.

A few details:

  • Rodoni Farms is located at 4444 Coast Rd., Davenport CA. An address that this Canto girl considers quite scary.
  • They're open daily from 9-5 (rain or shine!) from Sept. 30- Oct. 31. After that, it's an honor system payment system.
  • They have a 5 acre corn maze that costs $5 a person!
  • Although their website said they only accepted cash and check, we were able to pay by venmo (@rodoni-farms).
  • Read about the varieties of pumpkins and their uses here!
